To mark its 40th anniversary in 2007, the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf organized the “Düsseldorf Sounds — Festival of Art and Music from Düsseldorf". One particularly noteworthy event was staged in the Kunsthalle’s cinema auditorium:
the only Dieter Moebius and Stefan Schneider collaboration ever.

Dieter Moebius (1944—2015) was a member of the group Cluster with Hans-Joachim Roedelius. The original group, Kluster, with Conrad Schnitzler completing the trio, had been active for a couple of years in Düsseldorf in 1970/71. Stefan Schneider, born in Düsseldorf and co-founder of the seminal Neo-Krautronic bands Kreidler and To Rococo Rot, recalls inviting Moebius to share the stage with him: “In 2007 he was, in my eyes, an exciting contemporary musician — not a mere figure from the past. He continued to take risks, constantly in motion, gradually shaping his world of sound without recourse to radical shifts or ruptures”. Like other musicians of the 1970s generation, Moebius “never strayed from his mission to discover and keep on discovering new constellations in his music. I was really impressed by that. With Kluster/Cluster (after Schnitzler left the group in 1971 they swapped the K for a C) or as Harmonia, Moebius never revisited old tracks. Instead, every concert began afresh.”

Moebius accepted the invitation and the two musicians met briefly in Berlin to discuss the performance. On the night of the concert, they improvised everything. After the show, a journalist asked Moebius to expand on the differences between the fine arts and music. His riposte was succinct and disarming in equal measure: “What differences? – they are both art.”
